Afternoon Tea: Quatrieme at The Fourth

My visit to Quatrieme at The Fourth with Jee was not my first time at the cafe. Previously I went with my friend Margie and we each ordered a pot of tea (me the French Vervaine) and the apricot scones with cream and jam.  This time around, I ordered the Afternoon Tea.

Similar to my visit with Margie, the servers were not familiar with the tea service offered at the cafe. However, they were courteous. From the menu of four teas and four tisanes, I chose the peppermint tea. The teas are by Harney & Sons.

Here's that For Life teapot again!

Savories and sweets were served on the same tray. The savory options included the following four sandwiches: Burrata and Tomato, Smoked Salmon & Tomato, Mortadella, and Japanese Omelette and Vegetable. I was tempted by the omelette but instead ordered the salmon sandwich after asking about the fish's provenance. I was told it was pole caught. Instead of scones, this afternoon tea offered muffins - blueberry and gluten-free banana pecan. The latter was moist and delicious. The sweet course was a Cinnamon Sugar Bomboloni.

The afternoon tea at Quatrieme is a great lunch option if you are in Union Square.  The banana pecan muffin is worth a visit.
