Cold infusion with NYC water

Do you cold steep in the summer? With tap or filtered water?

NYC receives high ratings for its municipal drinking water supply and
that's what I use to steep one of my favorite summer herbals:
Celestial Seasonings Red Zinger.

  1. I've heard good things about NYC's water too. I loved the tap water in Cleveland, Ohio, too, when I lived there.

I rarely cold-brew tea, and I have yet to produce good results brewing anything by that method. For me, it's still steep-hot-and-chill, and I usually just brew a very small amount and then cool that to room temperature before adding cold water and chilling it in the fridge, or pouring that over ice if I'm in a hurry.

Hi Alex! Thanks for the comment and better yet, your cold-steep method.
