Earl Grey flavor is derived from an orange

Bergamot oil gives Earl Grey its distinctive flavor and taste. I was surprised to learn that the oil is derived from a fruit, the bergamot orange. This orange is related to the Seville orange; I have tasted the Seville orange, shown above, and it was is bitter. See a photo of the bergamot orange here.
